Eurocopter Southern Africa Christmas Function 2011
Saturday, 10 December 2011  -  Saturday, 10 December 2011
Eurocopter Southern Africa held its annual Christmas function on 10th December 2011 at Heia Safari.  This was the second year in a row that we enjoyed the venue as it is nestled in the Cradle of Humankind, boasting beautiful scenery and an abundance of wild life ie Giraffe, Zebra, Buck etc that roam freely on its premises.  This being the rainy season, was a bit of a threat to the upcoming festivities and so arrangements were made to continue enjoying the day indoors in the eventuality of rain.  10th December dawned with much anticipation and no rain in evidence except for a cool, cloudy day that offered much needed relief from the usual heat and humidity.

As staff arrived with their families, the children’s little faces lit up as their gazes fell on the colourful rides dotting the lawn.  Four spit braais were almost ready for the hungry guests while the formalities took place indoors.  While Sonia Govender took care of the little ones in an adjoining room who were receiving gifts from Santa (Ian Kiley), in the dining room, Thashini Moodley (HR Manager) and Fabrice Cagnat (CEO) jointly presented the awards to staff.  The presentation of the awards was met with much celebration as proud friends, colleagues and family members clapped, cheered and ululated.  Thereafter, a scrumptious lunch was enjoyed and the guests then relaxed around the pool on the beautiful lawn while in the background, shrieks of delight could be heard as the children enjoyed the water slides, ice cream and face painting.

Despite the tough economic times, as a gesture of goodwill, the company once again presented each staff member with a gift card for groceries.  The day was far from over as staff queued to dump the CEO in a dumping tank.  The prize to be won was a weekend for a couple at Heia safari.  Mr Cagnat was a great sport as a half hour later, a well placed ball hit the lever and he went down with a huge splash and loud cheers from the crowd.  The lucky couple was Prudence Mashau and her husband who were recently married and could not have been more deserving of the prize.  The day ended on a happy note as staff and colleagues wished each other well for the holidays and departed.
